Abstract

Deixis is one of the most prominent means of textual coherence in its formal aspect, as it possesses verbal techniques that contribute to linking complex relationships within the text, making it strong, solid, coherent and cohesive. Deixis, with its various types, contributes directly to the formulation of the formal framework of the text, since it is one of the most important means of composition by which semantic meanings are embodied. Deixis helps the word acquires its denotation and highlights its significance. The study discusses deixis in three sections: the first section deals with central pronouns, the second deals with demonstrative pronouns, and the third is about relative pronouns; with the aim of highlighting the extent of their contribution to the coherence of the texts in the collection of poetry Hadi Al-Rabi, and the cohesion of its parts. The researcher approaches this consistent means from two sides: the first is a theoretical study, and the second is tracking the presence of this linguistic means in the texts through an applied analytical study.
